Vis-à-vis Creative & Kimpton Honored with 2010 Gold Adrian Award

Gold-HSMAI-AwardCHICAGO, IL – Vis-à-vis Creative was honored this month with a 2010 Gold Adrian Award. The Adrian Awards are presented by Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI), and honor outstanding achievements in advertising, public relations and digital marketing in the travel industry.

The Gold Adrian recognizes a novel “sales blitz” campaign that Vis-à-vis Creative produced for Palomar Philadelphia, a Kimpton Hotel. Hotel management sought to position the new Palomar in the Philadelphia market, generate awareness of its new opening, create an overall buzz, and ultimately boost sales.

Because the hotel occupies a former library, Vis-à-vis’s Kris Mocny and Areta Ljubicic imagined a simple bookmark. The library served the American Institute of Architects, and the story of the hotel focuses on the Art of Architecture. Accordingly, a bookmark series was produced to celebrate the building’s heritage and legacy on one side, and offer special deals on accommodations and dining on the other.

The bookmarks are small and generally low cost to produce, and have consequently proved to be very useful premiums: depending on the situation, the bookmarks are perfect at trade shows, marketing events, and at the front desk, as well as for in-room guests who use the bookmark as they read, but will hopefully return to the Palomar Philadelphia to take advantage of special rates.

The tone of the promotions is sophisticated, inviting and unique, in that each of the three versions teases guests and customers with a different offer.

The initial campaign produced a 600% return on investment, results that prompted the hotel to make it a permanent marketing program.
