We’ve Got S.O.U.L. – And Everyone Knows It


CHICAGO, IL – Vis-à-vis Creative is proud to receive the 2012 Silver W3 Award for Design of the S.O.U.L. Uganda Web site (www.souluganda.org). This award draws attention to the recently launched site, which works to promote the organization’s mission, needs, and success stories.

S.O.U.L. Uganda focuses on improving education, women’s empowerment, food security and health in the African nation of Uganda. The namesake, derived from the phrase “Supporting Opportunities for Ugandans to Learn,” is carried out through a variety of programs. From fostering sustainable livestock initiatives to supporting local midwives, from student sponsorship to village business cooperatives focused on women, S.O.U.L. Uganda has made efforts to reach every corner of the community it serves. The new site was created to highlight each of these efforts, increase exposure, and invite involvement.

The site is built with a comprehensive Content Management System (CMS), and also features an e-commerce plug-in to sell jewelry and accessories made by the women of Bujagali Falls, Uganda, where the foundation’s African headquarters is located. Items are sold under the banner “The Mulungi Collection.” The money generated through the site goes directly back to pay for expenses on the ground.

Brooke Stern, Founder of S.O.U.L., approves: “We’ve come a long way, and it’s been amazing to watch this foundation grow. Spreading the word about our work is key to ensuring we can make a difference here in Uganda. Creating a website seemed like the next logical step for us, and we are so proud to unveil our new site, which is wonderful.”
